Uganda

Bordered by Kenya, Sudan, the DR of the Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania, Uganda is a picturesque country bursting with an abundance of attractions – including one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Africa, the source of the White Nile, beautiful game parks and lakes, and the highest concentration of primates on earth.

Rwenzori National Park

Also known as the mountains of the moon, the Rwenzori mountain range runs through the Rwenzori National Park – most of which is now a World Heritage Site. Take a trek in the lush, jungle-clad mountains to experience the tropical vegetation and scenery first-hand – or take a scenic flight overhead for an incredibly awe-inspiring view. Not far from here are explosion craters from a cluster of extinct volcanoes.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world, and provides a safe haven for endangered animals such as the increasingly rare mountain gorilla. The forest itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to 90 mammal species, including 11 primates. It is easily accessible via helicopter.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

This is a wonderful national park, sometimes dubbed ‘the Pearl of Africa or Switzerland of Africa’. Quite simply this fertile equatorial area is especially scenic, with two lakes connected by a channel overlooked by a high peninsula. You will also find volcanic craters, grassy plains and tropical forest. As a result it has one of the highest biodiversity ratings in the world.

The Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls Conservation Area ( MFCA ) comprises of Murchison Falls National Park, Bugungu and Karuma Falls Wildlife Reserves. This is where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and cascades down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos and crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is characterised by savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees, and many bird species.
