A letter from the British Army…
We received this nice letter from the British Army regarding our fire fighting at Mt. Kenya.
Ian
I just wanted to drop you a line by way of thanks to say how valuable the British Army found your contribution to the Mount Kenya Fire response. You may not remember me but I was the Major in charge of BATUK’s contribution being the civilian development officer here.
Dealing with you, your company and in particular Shawn was an utter delight who is a credit to your organisation. If I am honest we only really remained due to the commitment shown by Lady Lori as it was clear just the extent you were contributing in resources and effort.
I have to say you have a super pilot with Shawn who was just utterly professional and on side; quite frankly his piloting skills were just the best I have ever seen and I have been flown by heli into some fairly interesting places across the world – Shawn is without doubt the best I have seen. The level of commitment that Shawn and Lady Lori showed to us and the fire was beyond re-approach and with troops deep in the jungle I was secure in the knowledge that we had a good man up in the air looking out for us and wouldn’t leave soldiers stranded – that type of commitment is usually the stuff found in war zones!
Once again thank you for everything, congratulations once again for such a professional response and I hope the business has recovered some-what with all that initial good will!
All the best and hope to see you and Shawn again when I visit the lodge.
All the best

A Fine African Lady
In an industry dominated by (predominantly white) ex-pat companies and pilots, Kenya’s Lady Lori Helicopters has broken the mold by running a truly Kenyan operation. Ned Dawson quizzed CEO Ian Mimano about how the company became what it is today.
Father Christmas Delivery
On December 19th, Lady Lori delivered Father Christmas to the kids at the Karen Country Club via heli. The kids were so excited, and a picture was published in the local newspaper the next day.
Bespoke Bush
Lady Lori’s helicopters are the ultimate way to travel in Africa – little wonder Sting and Branson are fans. The highly skilled pilots-cum-guides will organise anything, from tribal-art-buying missions to oystering on the Indian Ocean’s coral reefs.
